Tips for the final stretch of the Dog Days
Aug 17, 2024
The Sanfu days, also known as the "Chinese dog days of summer", are the hottest days of the year. These days are divided into three periods: Mid-July, Late July to Early August, and Mid-August. In the Chinese language, "Fu" means lying on the ground or hide, which can be interpreted from two perspectives. On the one hand, the surface humidity of soil is high and the absorbed heat can't dissipate, causing the temperature of the ground to be extremely hot. On the other hand, due to the hot spell, it is suitable for people to stay indoors or visit cooler places to escape the summer heat.

Embracing the Autumn Tiger: Health Tips for the Final Stretch of the Dog Days
This year's dog days will last for 40 days, and August 14th is the first day of Mofu (or Autumn Tiger). One feature of this period is that people feel cooler in the mornings and evenings, but the sun is still intense during the day. However, it is common for each region to experience slightly different conditions during the dog days.
With the advent of Mid-August (or Mofu), the weather will gradually turn cooler. Please pay attention to the following points.
Excessive intake of spicy and greasy food can easily cause the symptoms of autumn dryness, such as getting inflamed and constipation, especially for those with hot constitution. Eating sour food can help prevent the dryness. Additionally, ensure adequate intake of water, vitamins and inorganic salts.
Eating too much cold food is detrimental to your spleen and stomach, and don't turn on the air conditioner all the time and overdrink cold drinks. Because frequent consumption of cold drinks can easily lead to the invasion of cold air and weaken spleen and stomach.
Try to retire before 10:30 p.m. and awaken around 6:30 a.m. everyday. Furthermore, exercise should be moderate and focused on self-cultivation, like Tai Chi and Ba Duan Jin. And it is best to choose exercise in the cooler mornings or evenings.

People often experience a poor appetite in hot weather. Thus, I'd like to recommend some special food to you. Shirataki Seaweed Noodles and Shirataki Knots are simple and convenient, and they can alleviate the heat. One of the outstanding features of konjac noodles is that they are rich in dietary fiber, which can help improve health problems such as indigestion and constipation that may arise from a poor appetite. Naturally, as a fiber-rich food, it's important to eat shirataki pasta in moderation and supplement water as well.
