Konjac

a plant which is mainly growing in Asian countries and has high requirements on climate, soil and other growing environments. This means not everywhere is suitable for growing Konjac plants. Here in China, Konjac is mainly growing in mountainous areas such as Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou Province.  Due to regional, climate and soil restrictions, konjac cultivation is more difficult than wheat cultivation, and the yield is also easily affected by weather, diseases and insect pests. So overall, the yield of konjac is low, making its raw materials more expensive than wheat. The edible part of konjac is the tuber with a water content of 78 to 89%, and its main component is glucomannan (GM), a kind of water soluble dietary fiber.  But we can't eat the Konjac yam directly, we need to do a lot of intensive processing before we can use konjac powder and process it into various different konjac foods.

When we harvest konjac, we will transport the konjac yams back to our factory.  Firstly,  we clean the konjac by washing it with water, secondly, our workers clean it again manually, thirdly, our automatic machine will slice it into konjac chips and make it dry, and then grind it into konjac powder, which is still the most basic powder. We will also make konjac powder into different specifications according to the requirements and applications of different customers. For example, konjac powder that can be eaten directly or Konjac refined flour which is used to process Shirataki noodles and shirataki rice.  Konjac gum for dietary fiber granules, and konjac powder used in Konjac Diet Jelly and other food industries.

In general,Due to the geographical limitations of planting, the great influence of weather, and the complicated processing procedures, the overall price of konjac is relatively expensive. But as Konjac is getting more and more popular among customers worldwide, more farmers in China are choosing to plant Konjac, with the increase in konjac production and improvements in processing technology and equipment, we believe the price of Konjac will be lower in the future.
